Food

All residential courses are on a full board basis, with breakfast, lunch, evening meal and supper.

We can, and frequently do, cater for all manner of special dietary requirements. Our experienced chef will cope sensitively with Vegetarian, Vegan, Halal and Kosher diets. We are also well aware of the precautions necessary when dealing with food allergies.

Please note that we aren't geared up for groups to self-cater, but the alternative is that we can run the course and supply the instructors and activities, and your group stay elsewhere. However, there is a small kitchen where visiting staff and weekend groups can make teas and coffees.

Clothing and Personal Effects

Girls on a bunk bedBring plenty of clothing! Hats, gloves, a towel, and at least one complete change of clothing and shoes, are a minimum at any time of year. In Summer and for wet activities, a swimming costume is essential. Don't forget nightwear and toiletries for residential courses.

But, bear in mind that the majority of dormitories are up at least one flight of stairs, so please pack with this in mind. (Anyone with additional needs will of course be provided with ground floor accommodation). Bags take up less space than cases.

Bring your own if you prefer, but we can supply waterproofs, and wellingtons. We will supply all essential protective gear, such as helmets and harnesses, wetsuits and buoyancy aids. You can download our list of recommended items here.

Accommodation

Residential groups sleep in dormitory-style rooms with twin bunk beds. Smaller rooms are available for visiting staff and leaders; these are either single or twin. There are three separate sleeping areas - Buzzard and Eagle on separate floors of the main house, and Heron just next-door. A floor plan is here.

Facilities

For non-residential courses, lunch and snacks (at a cost), use of showers and changing rooms can still be provided. We can also offer meeting rooms and classrooms for those groups that need them. Several rooms have data projectors fitted for meetings and presentations. WiFi is available throughout the building.
