Throughout the year Ardroy runs skills courses open to individuals who are working towards outdoor activity instructor qualifications. Grants of up to £500 are available for qualifying individuals for many of these courses. Please see the ILA Scotland page.
The list below only shows those NGB courses which are scheduled in the near future. Many other courses are already available, and we would always like to hear from you if you think we might be able to provide something new. Also, please see our Other Courses page. So, if you want training - ask us!
We also run courses for other Outdoor Centres and Colleges where they have ILA registered students/staff. This can reduce the cost by up to £200! Please contact us if interested.

Single Pitch Award.
The award for individuals wishing to teach groups Rock Climbing and Abseiling on British Single Pitch Crags.
Minimum age: 18
Registered with Mountain Leader Training (Scotland)
At least 15 routes led outdoors with leader placed protection
£185.00 per person (VAT 0%)
Here is the information for the residential SPA Training course. In order to secure a place, complete and return both the booking form and medical form to Ardroy OEC within 14 days, together with your cheque made payable to ‘Fife Council’ for £185 per person.
Registration for the SPA scheme prior to the course is essential, and I am afraid that anyone failing to meet the pre-requisites as stated by the MLTS will be unable to continue attending the course, and will still be liable for the full cost of the course.
To this end, could you please fill in the downloadable form detailing climbs that you have led, and return it completed with your booking form. The climbs can be of any grade, but the protection needs to be leader placed.
Bring all your own personal climbing equipment, including lead rack and ropes if you own them. A helmet is a requirement – please let us know if you require one! We do have a limited number of lead ropes available, and will also provide abseil and rigging ropes, plus any other technical equipment needed. The course will continue regardless of the weather, so come prepared for anything!
Do remember to bring your Logbooks, and a small notebook and/or a digital camera may prove useful.
The programme can be accessed below. As you can see, the weekend is an intense one – as the syllabus is comprehensive the MLTS requires 20 hours of contact time.
An Ardroy minibus will transport you to climbing venues on both days.
